HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY... a cute story....

i read this story in the TV Weekly shopper in milwaukee wisconsin and i had to reprint it...its truly a testament to the tenacity of our soldiers and mankind in general! wish a soldier a happy memorial day today!

two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. one man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. his bed was next to the rooms only window. the other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. the men talked for hours on end. they spoke of their wives, and families, their jobs, their homes, where they had gone on vacations and their involvement in the military.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he seen outside the window. the man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be braoadened by all the activity and color of the outside world. the window overlooked a park with a pond. ducks and swans played on the water while the children sailed their model boats. young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color of the rainbow. grand old trees graced the landscape and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

one warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. although the other man couldnt hear yhr band, in his minds eye he could see it as the other man described it with such vivid, descrptive words. days and weeks passed. one day while the nurse was bringing water for their baths, she discovered the man by the window has died peacefully in his sleep.

as soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked to be moved to the bed by the window. the nurse was happy to accomadate him. slowly the man propped himself up to look out the window, eager to have a look at the world outside.

he strained to look out the window, it faced a blank wall...he asked the nurse what could have compelled his roommate to describe such detailed wonderful things when he was always looking at a wall...the nurse responded that the man was blind and couldnt even see the wall...she said perhaps he wanted to encourage you to get well...

i am TIRED !!! and its only 2pm! oy...had to trudge to the laundromat with mackenzie and like a TON of laundry !!!  insane ...spent 40 bucks and 6 loads!!! INSANE !!! ok well going to go shower and take a nap! nighters world...ill blog laters

I CANT TAKE ANYMORE

i guess you think i would have learned by now to not trust anyone to actually follow through with plans that might help me out...sure enough had plans today to go somewhere and get some important things done, and that person and i agreed that she would pick me up at 10am. so at 945am i woke up and noticed that there were 6 missed calls from said person. so i immediately called her instead of wasting time to check voicemails, and she stated she was already at the destination and wouldnt be coming to get me. of course this made me angry cause we agreed on 10am !!! and so whatever...after a lott of finger pointing at someone else, its finally been determined that she just didnt feel like making the trip to my house to get me and my person and take us. cause we all know my business is just not as important as anyone elses business. so now here i sit and i have no way to get to the destination in time to be back to get to class on time. i have another test tonight and no printer so really no ability to study my notes except keep reading them on the computer screen. i might venture out to the library yet today, but i just dont relish the thought of dragging a 2 1/2 year old to the library for a whole ten seconds to print some papers. so i probably will just try and study off the computer screen. of course the problem with that is that im off on facebook, and reading blogs and whatever else...lol...oh well what can ya do?! im ready to quit. just quit the mommy thing, quit the daugher thing, and quit the wifee thing. i just want to focus on school and nothing else. and i think that would include taking a trip to somewhere that noone can call me or bother me. i just am at the end of my rope!! i have an appointment next week to meet with a new therapist and im not sure how that all will go, but i hope for her sake that she has some zanax or something for herself, cause shes going to need it when im done talking to her! lol...ok back to studying!!!

i havent posted in a bit, ive been suffering from migraines...they are NO joke!! insane a** gift that i got for my 30th birthday! thanks! lol...so i had another test tonight. got a 92% so thats better then i thought i would...the rest of the class didnt study one bit and their results reflected it !!! idk i dont understand how you can pay that much money and not get that darn A !!! whatever ....only worry about me...thats my mantra cause ya all know how much i love to get into everyones business...speaking of everyones business...(like that segue?) hehe...i emailed someone on their blog this weekend and they were so inspired by what i said, they posted a blog about it...it seriously made me cry and it was happy tears....cause my story with emily kinda helped change someone elses perspective on some things and thats kinda cool....cause ya all know not too many people listen to me anymore! especially when it comes to emily !!! lol...ok going to get off here and study - another test tomorrow night !!! more math next week and its a short week cause of memorial day !!! ugh sooo not fair !!!  ;) goodnite peoples

FUNN-Y !!!!

Two Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on I-15, just north of Oceanside , San Diego , California .



One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching the crest of a hill. The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour and climbing.



The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and then it suddenly turned off.







Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact locked on to a USMC F/A-18 Hornet which was engaged in a low flying exercise near this, it's home base location.



Back at the California Highway Patrol Headquarters the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the US Marine Corps. Base Commander for shutting down his equipment.



The reply came back in true USMC style:



'Thank you for your letter..



You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked on to, your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it, which is why it shut down. Furthermore, an Air-to-Ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked on to your equipment location.



Fortunately, the Marine Pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched to destroy the hostile radar position. The pilot suggests you cover your mouths when cussing at them, since the video systems on these jets are very high tech.

Sergeant Johnson, the officer holding the radar gun, should get his dentist to check his left rear molar. It appears the filling is loose. Also, the snap is broken on his holster.'

MATH TEST # 1 OF 2.....

math test = drama and heart racing...and i was LITERALLY in tears over one problem, and that happened to be the SIMPLEST one on the test...lmao...we wont discuss that it was a simple subtraction problem lol....but in the end .. i got .... 100 % yeah yeah yeah yeah baby!!!!

WHERE IS SUMMER?!?!?!

dont get me wrong, if i never have to use my air conditioner this year, it will be too soon! haha. but i really wonder whats going on with the ozone that its the middle of May and its 46 degrees outside! i shouldnt have my heat on!! lol. oh well. class went well tonight. i had to change the topic of my research paper. it was going to be on Munchausens by Proxy...but in doing some basic research, i realized that (right now at least) this topic would delve into serious issues surrounding child abuse and after all that happened with Emily, i am not emotionally ready to discuss that subject. and thats ok. my teacher said it was fine, and what would i like to do? and i chose "gender identity". very interesting subject matter! we have to write a paper discussing the ethical and legal aspects of the subject. we are having a test tomorrow on chapters 1-6. we have not discussed any of the matter in class yet, haha. but she gave us the questions that "might be on the test". and then told us to answer them and study them. hmm lets see...there are going to be 10 questions on the test, and there were 12 questions on the study guide...lol...yeah you figure that one out einstein! easy A. although i shouldnt be too smarty pants cause that gets me into trouble! ok im exhausted so heres some pictures from the weekend to keep you entertained! comments are appreciated!!! :)

i want...scratch that i NEED a drink. actually i need about 8 drinks and a couple joints to knock my butt out. sigh. i cannot believe the day that i have had today! and to top it all off, as soon as i sat down to blog, of course i have to do something else. so i will try to be back tonight...ugh!

I HAVE A HEADACHE

im kinda irritated with some friends of mine. they are thinking that i have no idea not to give mackenzie a bottle. she will be 3 in august. yea she should be off the bottle. but you know what? shes safe, clean and happy. so what if she drinks from a bottle once in a while when we are out somewhere?! she seen a dentist and shes got NO cavities and her teeth look great! so booyah!!! mind your own beeswax!! and that being said...can you believe how hard it is to find a raincoat in milwaukee?!?! seriously with our weather, i have trouble finding a raincoat for mackenzie?! wow...finally found one at target for 8 bucks. its too cute. posted pics for you all to see!! AND check out the pic of mackenzie eating split pea soup!!! awesome!! (i hate split pea soup but yay for my baby)

REALLY TIRED BUT I HAVE TO POST

i am now fully certified in CPR through the American Heart Association. awesome! thats good for 2 years...and i passed my mod with an overall grade of 96.4 % and an A which qualifies me for a high honors certificate and pin !!! whoohoo

so posting real quick before the percoset kicks in...haha...yeah. i quit drinking but am now taking percoset! oy!! anyways so this mod is over tomorrow! i cant believe i made it one month already into college!! theres a lot of confusion over my college so let me clarify. i am going to a nine month diploma creditation (whatever that word is)for Medical Assistant. i have "mods" - modules - that are a month long. since i go to night classes, im kinda getting short shifted a little. im off fridays (ohhh yeah). so the first two mods are called the White and Black mod. they are kinda the prerequisites so to speak. anyways i started with the white mod. this covered basic anatomy and physiology, touched briefly on medical terminology, communicating with patients, computer skills, some basic english (laugh but can you tell me what a predicate is? ...yep didnt think so!) and CPR certification. We were required to do a test on each section, and a home project. our home project was to create a 3D model of a system in the body and a paper to present to the class. that project was worth 800 points. so we got literally thrown into anatomy first thing. and a week to learn it...technically only 4 days and then a test. needless to say, i thought i had that one and i didnt study as much as i should have, and kinda bombed it. i got a 72%. which is passing but i was mad cause i know i couldve done better if i had studied more. so i studied studied studied and its paid off. i scored 100% on each test after that! whoohoo! and i got ALL 800 points on my project!!! yay!!! so this mod ends tomorrow night after we learn and successfully perform CPR. im nervous but i know its going to be ok cause i have a great teacher. so the perc is kicking in so im going to sign off here before i start posting silly things! haha...will try to find some time tomorrow to post more! goodniters

got a new phone from cricket. was like trying to pull teeth. will only deal with the corporate store from now on. they are nicer. still had to pay ten bucks but thats better then nothing. rainy crappy day here today. ugh

ITS MOTHERS DAY

im mad... im fuming! i recieved a new cell phone for mothers day. not just any cell phone, the one that has the full keyboard that ive kinda wanted for a long time...so i got it on friday, and by yesterday (yep 24 hours later) the phone is randomly shutting off and on and its getting on my last nerve. spoke to cricket service and they reset the phone, successfully deleting the ringtones that i just spent 15 dollars on last night, and all the pictures that i took. so today i went to take the phone to the store i bought it from, and whattya know? they dont handle technical difficulties!! i have to take the phone to the corporate store...and the corporate store is closed on sunday. grrrr

BEEN AWHILE

so im in college life now...kinda really into the swing of things now... i got a 73 on my anatomy and physiology test...not too bad, but im disappointed in myself as i know i couldve done better if i had studied a little harder. then got a 100 percent on my english quiz last week and tonight i got another 100 percent on my computer quiz. (which i knew i would ace, cause im on the computer all the time) tomorrow i have a quiz on office safety OSHA regulations, and whatnot...fire drill stuff and basic common sense about not blocking doors, and not leaving flammable objects around..yeah you all know if you have ever had a job. and then next week, is CPR training, test and then certification and then *gasp* this mod is over. i have successfully completed mod 1 of 7. i am happy and anxious all at the same time. cause the end of this mod means one thing, that i am closer to the dreaded math module. UGH !!! it also means im 1 month closer to graduating (yay) and 1 month closer to leaving my beloved Ms. Becky (boo) ...but she will be in the building and i can go bug her when i want haha... i will be availing myself to a tutor next mod for the math part...good news is that the school has changed the curriculum for the black mod and Ms. Becky says its going to be better. it breaks the math into two parts instead of one big bulky part...yay! that will definitely help me out... guess its alot of fractions, ratios (ugh) and measurements...and the medical field uses the metric system (big BOO) and i have no idea how to convert and all that bs...so thats going to be a challenge for me...but just like the anatomy that i was TERRIFIED about, i will study my bootay off and ask for help and get my A !!! cause even though i may not attain perfect attendance ( the bus and my babysitter just dont coordinate and i get to class about 10 minutes late every day) i will be sure to get my high honors...which is a little misleading cause i have to just get an A and i get it...so...whoohoo! im excited and tired and weak...im going to go curl up in my bed and recharge my batteries! nighters world !!!
